- Are TREKS guides First Aid Certified? Do you have a risk assessment and management plan?
Yes, all TREKS guides are first aid trained. Our first aid and response procedures are based on international standards. We also use the guidelines set forth by the British Standardization Institute (BSI) code BS:8848 for the creation of our Risk Assessment and Management System, as well as the general management of the itineraries.
- Are there bathrooms/toilets on the hike?
We will be staying in lodges throughout the trek. They all have bathrooms, and if we’re lucky enough, hot showers too!
- Where is the drinking water coming from?
Drinking water will be sourced from nearby rivers and streams. Our team is equipped with a filter system to ensure water is safe to drink, or you can buy bottled water from lodges along the trail.
- What kind of food will we eat?
Vegetables, fruits, dates, eggs, rice, bread, pasta, and traditional Nepali food (we can accommodate food based on the clients’ preferences and dietary restrictions). We recommend you take some of your favorite snacks as well.
- Is there support along the trail? What will they be carrying?
Full-support will be provided. Porters to carry our sleeping bags, extra clothing, equipment and personal items. Each person is limited to 13 kg of weight.
- Is tipping the local guides required?
It is not mandatory, but recommended. The livelihoods of our local support staff (guides and porters) depends on the money they make during the trek, most of which comes from tips.
- Is the plane ticket included in the price?
No. You will either book your own flight or we can do it, however keep in mind that the prices depend on the season and time of reservation.
- Will you issue me an invoice?
Yes. Furthermore, payments can be made in cash, by cheque, bank transfer or credit card.
- When is it best to visit?
November is one of the best months to hike the Manaslu Circuit, with moderate temperatures and very few inches of rainfall. However, with any high-altitude expedition, one must come prepared for whatever mother nature throws our way. Also, the higher we get, the colder it becomes! We can expect temperatures to drop below -10 C.
Hiking is not a dangerous activity, but a certain degree of caution is required. Our team will take all necessary precautions to make sure we have a good time and come back home safe.
- Will my life be forever changed?
We’d like to think so. It is often said that people visit Nepal for the beautiful landscapes, and return once again for the people. For many, hiking the Himalayas is a transformative experience.
