The hike begins amidst lush oak and pine forests and gradually ascends to a sandstone plateau, offering spectacular views of one of the world’s most remarkable geological features, the Great Rift Valley. Looking west, you’ll be greeted by the dramatic mountains, valleys, and sand dunes of Dana Reserve. Along the way, we will pause at a scenic spot to prepare lunch and enjoy some tea.
Dana, Jordan’s largest nature reserve, is home to an incredible diversity of wildlife. It serves as a unique crossroads for species from three continents—Europe, Africa, and Asia—and hosts 833 plant species, over 215 bird species, 38 mammal species, and 36 reptile species. After our lunch break, the hike continues as we make our way toward Petra.
