Dana to Petra (group) 1 June 2023

• Time: 2.5-hour drive from Amman to Dana

• General Info: Gather at the Meeting Point and drive to Dana Tower Hotel, situated in the 300-year-old beautiful village of Dana. Enjoy dinner, tea, and a tranquil night at the Hotel.

General Info: Breakfast at the hotel and then from the Old Village descend through beautiful sandstone scenery along with Wadi Dana, eventually arriving at the award-winning Feynan Eco Lodge in an area of Roman copper mines. From Feynan continue south along the valley of Wadi Malaga, passing by Ottoman Ruins and an old fort on the left and then spotting the mouth of Wadi Ghuweir, to finally reach your campsite.

General Info: From Wadi Malaga campsite, a trek south over small hills, Jabal Al-Hamra, Jabal Mahzan, and Jabal Barwas. Gradually continue ascending across several wadis, with Wadi Araba to the west and the mountains to the east. Continue east uphill to reach Ras Naqb Shdied, offering stunning views in all directions. Follow a steep downhill to reach Wadi Feid- be prepared to walk through shallow river sections, while enjoying the shifting geology to dark purple and red sandstone cliffs. Check out the waterfalls before continuing the hike. After the Siq, continue east to reach the Ras El Feid campsite area.

General Info: Start the day off from Ras Al- Feid along with a rocky sandstone terrain, hiking down into Wadi Al-Fied and followed by a pleasant ascend south to Jabal Al-Safaha, to see some of the most spectacular views of the region. Afterward, pass a paved road and pass Kutlah Spring to then descend and arrive at Gbour Al Wehedat. From Gbour El Wehedat continue walking on the ridge of a mountain, descending through small sandstone canyons, passing the Al-Farsh area, and finally wind your way to the site of Beida. We will spend a night at Ammarin campsite to enjoy a fresh hot shower and home-cooked dinner.

General Info: Enjoy breakfast served at the campsite, to then discover the Neolithic remains at Beida UNESCO Heritage site before starting the day’s hike. Start at Beida from Seig Al-Bared, following a good back-trail through sandstone mountains to reach the monastery of Petra (referred to as Al-Deyer), and from there spend the day exploring and visiting the Ancient Sites of Petra, including the famous Treasury and Royal Tombs. From Petra drive back to Amman to arrive in the evening.
